We're in Junction Magazine — and we couldn’t be prouder.

Seeing our little Mangawhai roastery in print feels surreal, and it’s all thanks to this community that’s backed us from day one.

If you’ve loved what we’re building — the coffee, the space, the people — we’d be stoked if you gave us your vote in the Junction Awards. Every vote helps shine a light on small local makers doing what they love.

Vote via the link in our bio and help us bring this one home for Mangawhai.

Ps. Can you believe the coffee shop is only 11 weeks old?!

Wow! Seniman!!

Our favourite coffee tasting experience this trip. Maybe the best coffee in Ubud.

Sam had a syphon brewed coffee today which was a first. Not only was it a wonder to behold in brewing, it was delicious. Warm spice flavours and yet super refreshing.

Sam also had a nitro cold brew that tasted like a barrel aged, coffee porter. The option to add oat milk and vanilla created a whole new drink, a next level smoothness to an already delightful texture created by the nitro. The flavour was so intense, it wouldn't be out of place on tap in a brewery. We most certainly grabbed a bag of beans.

Stu tried an espresso. Great care has been taken in developing the blend used that ensured a great chocolate forward flavour. The piccolo Stu had using the same blend could have been mistaken for a mocha. Sweet, chocolatey, smooth and beautifully textured.

The barista was amazing at Seniman. Attentive and engaging, great conversation, little samples of what was being brewed, such enthusiasm for the craft. The food was good to boot.

Indonesian coffee is such a treat for the senses.

It was a full circle moment for Stu and Sam to return to Plantation. It's just over a year since the first visit that sparked the idea that became

Lots of coffee was tasted but the main reason for the visit was for training and development. An intensive day was spent getting into the details of how altitude, density, bean processes and roasting techniques can affect the quality and taste of roasted coffee.

Last year, we arrived just before harvest. The trees were full of fruit and the plantation was in preparation. This year, the coffee cherries had been picked and we got to see the drying process.

Our hearts, minds and bellies were full leaving the beautiful Kintamani plantation and roastery.

A delightful experience at Jabarano coffee. Tight on time, we chose carefully. A double shot espresso for Stu and a Lemon Zest Coffee for Sam. They did not disappoint.

A surprisingly dark coffee, iced with sweet and tart lemon, the Lemon Zest was so refreshing. Just the right amount of cold foam to add a creamy smoothness.

The espresso was Stu's favourite so far. Beautifully balanced, fruit, sweet and nut. We grabbed some beans to try to recreate it back home.

With so many ideas for additions to the caifewhai speciality menu, the choice of a Lemon Zest Coffee has reaffirmed some  concepts I continue to play with for flavour additions to coffee.

Watch this space.

Tasting the offerings and seeking inspiration at

Delicious latte, speciality coffee, V60 and espresso.

Stu's winner was the latte (delicious!)

Surprisingly, Sam quite enjoyed the Island Coffee Frappe given she is a V60 gal. It had Irish cream in it, maybe that was the winning element. ☘️
