Every day, thousands of plastic lined takeaway coffee cups are thrown in the rubbish and end up in landfill. One takeaway coffee a day creates 10 kilos of waste each year! That's why in 2008 we decided it was time Kiwis had an alternative to the nasty throw away; so we channeled our entrepreneurial spirit and came up with the reusable IdealCup! Made in Wellington, Aotearoa, the IdealCup reduces consumption of disposable cups, can be reused for pretty much a lifetime and at the end of its useful life, can be recycled in curbside recycling - better yet, it can be ground down and made in to a new IdealCup! People do sometimes ask why we chose plastic for the IdealCup. Many don’t realise most disposable cups are lined with polyethylene (plastic) so there is enough plastic in 20 disposable cups to make one IdealCup. So even though the IdealCup is made from plastic - we're about using less plastic and REUSING for a lifetime! And by keeping our production local and using sustainable products for manufacturing, we minimise our carbon footprint, offer opportunities for local businesses and keep skills on shore. So come on Kiwis, wrap your hands around an IdealCup, hold it up proudly, knowing you are supporting our efforts to keep our nation clean and green… whilst supporting New Zealand Made!

Our Story

At IdealCup we don’t just sit around and talk about our concerns for our environment; we’re all about LEADING change and using our LIFETIME REUSABLE products to create new and sustainable habits - positive habits we all need to embrace. We pioneer ways which we can do things better.

Made in Wellington, Aotearoa, the IdealCup reduces consumption of disposable cups, can be reused for a lifetime and at the end of its useful life, can be recycled in curbside recycling - better yet, it can be ground down and made in to a new IdealCup by our local manufacturers. We only use two materials to make our product - no nasty silicon ending up in landfill - we carefully crafted our unique design with the built-in fins on the side, for comfort and reduced material usage.
