Planning a group lunch and struggling to find somewhere that can actually take Large groups?

We’d love to host you at Better Half Kitchen & Bar — 4.5 acres at Leithfield, just 45 minutes north of Christchurch.

Coach groups, car clubs, retirement and community groups, corporate lunches. We have the space, the parking and a kitchen that can serve everyone at once, properly.

A Thank You From Our Kitchen to You 🖤

Winter is a quiet season for small country venues, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Meat prices have climbed steeply this year, and for a smokehouse like ours that’s a real challenge — we’re working hard to keep portions generous and prices fair, because that’s what we believe good country hospitality should be.

What’s kept us going is you. The locals from Leithfield, Amberley, Waipara and right across North Canterbury who keep coming back, bringing family, booking your celebrations with us. We’re grateful for every single one of you.

We’re not standing still, either. Our new outdoor area is coming along, we’ve launched catering and local delivery, and our 4.5 acres are ready for your weddings, birthdays and functions — with free venue hire and a courtesy car within 15km.
