Hey Hamilton, 👋

From 1 October, short-stay parking on the street in the central city will be free for the first hour, following Hamilton City Council’s decision in the 2024-34 Long-Term Plan.

Here’s what you need to know:
⏳ Even if you're staying for an hour or less, you must enter your number plate at a kiosk or use the PayMyPark app.
👀 Check the parking signs to see what zone you’re in.
💛 If you park in the yellow zone, use a yellow kiosk or select the yellow zone on PayMyPark.
💚 If you park in the green zone, use a green kiosk or select the green zone on PayMyPark.
🕑 The second hour is $1 in the yellow zone and $3 in the green zone.
🕒 The third hour onwards is still $6 per hour.

Don't forget the Government is also increasing parking fines around the country.

Here are some examples of what you’ll pay if you overstay:
⏰ 30 minutes overstay - $20 (up from $12)
🚗 Broken yellow lines - $100 (up from $60)
🅿️ Park in an area reserved for disabled persons - $750 (up from $150)

Don’t get caught out with a parking ticket! You can extend your paid parking on the PayMyPark app; or at any kiosk in the colour zone you’re in.
