With heavy hearts, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors.
Hi5 was created to fill the demanding need for Island Kai in Hamilton. Our hope was to bring something new to Htown—to share our food, our culture, and give people a taste of why us Islanders are all rocking size 10s 😂.
From day one, quality has always been our top priority. We’ve always cooked the way we like to eat—full of flavour that keeps your stomach and heart full. But everything comes with a price and as these prices increase, sustaining our standards without having to sacrifice valuables like staff, ingredients, or precious time with our families has been challenging.
Don’t get us wrong, this journey has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you for supporting a small Tongan family business. Your support has given us so many opportunities and experiences that we will never forget! Our food has fed the masses - the young, the old, the homeless, was bought for sneaky holdouts, booked out for events or brought home for dinner after a long day. Thank you for letting us have a seat at your tables and in your hearts.
This is goodbye for now—but our goal has been achieved. We are so happy to see more Island food businesses around and hope to continue to see our people grow in these spaces.
Serving you all has been an honour and a pleasure. We will always cherish the memories, connections, and kindness that you’ve all shown us.
Let me just go and have a 😭 cry because we will miss seeing all your beautiful faces every day!! We continue to prise our Heavenly Father, our God for his protection. Thank you for being part of our story as much as we have been part of yours.
