Johnathan was one of Mr Grumpys most loyal customers getting his kiddie pack lightly salted. We all watched him grow from flying around the waiting room as spider man then bring in his amazing drawings of sonic to the most well mannered young adult calling us dear. He will be sadly missed by all of the Grumpy crew 💔
Johno, a descendant of Ngāi Tahu and Ngāti Māhanga, with sadness we acknowledge you, as you journey to the heavens to become a shining star in the night sky. You leave behind those who love you, those who remain here on earth.
It is with great sadness that we let you know that one of our students, Jonathan (Johno) Kipa-Tahu passed away at home yesterday, Monday 13th April. Johno was a much loved mokopuna of Shirley and Stanley Tahu, son of Brendon Kipa and Jessica Tahu.
Johno has been a member of the Foxton community for 18 years, attending Foxton Primary School, Foxton Beach School and then as a current student at Manawatū College. Johno was a valued member of our community, known for his kindness, warmth, and the positive spirit he brought to those around him. Johno’s presence touched the lives of classmates, teachers, and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Johno had strengths and passions with swimming for the Palmerston North Swimming Club in the Senior Mens’ division supported by Grant Campbell, he was a ‘rookie’ lifeguard, a member of the RSA, and the Levin Aquatic Centre.
During this difficult time, our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Johno’s whānau, friends, and loved ones.
Johno will lay at rest in his home at 64 Nash Parade, Foxton Beach, where friends are welcome to pay their respects from Thursday 16th April. Visiting times will be between 2.00pm - 4.00pm.
There will be a funeral service held at Manawatū College in the school hall on Monday 20th April, starting at 2.00pm. All students, staff, whānau, community members and those who knew Johno are warmly invited to attend. Following this service on Monday, Johno will return home for one final night and then a private burial with whānau will take place the following day in Dannevirke.
For those who wish to offer financial support, a Givealittle page (https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/funeral-fund-for-johno-kipa-tahu) has been created to assist the family with the essential funeral costs. Any support you are able to give will be greatly appreciated.
A second email will be sent shortly with the arrangements for an early finish on Monday 20th April.
Thank you in advance for your support.
