“Tracy, today we’re not just farewelling a colleague—we’re farewelling an icon, a piece of The Gate history, and quite honestly, the glue that helped hold this place together more times than we can count.
You started at The Golden Gate Lodge 22 years ago as a young adult, and the chaos, fun, and legendary stories began.
We’ve watched you dance on tabletops like it was a Saturday night ritual, strut your stuff like the pub was your runway, have post‑mix gun fights, drink straight from the beer taps — sneak out for your cheeky ci******es, and power through those infamous lock-ins in the public bar.
You nailed it as a single parent, pulled off helping with a full rebrand to The Gate like an absolute boss, fallen madly in love with your ‘delicious chocolate man’—our Baker—got engaged, got married, and added two more beautiful kids to your family.
But Tracy… here’s the part that comes from me (Tia)
When I first moved to Cromwell 21 years ago, you were my rock. You made this town bearable, you became an aunty to my children, and you showed me what a true bestie looks like. You weren’t just a friend—you became family. And you still are.
We’ve watched you battle a Coke Zero addiction, almost s**t yourself from gluten intolerance a number of times, and work alongside more staff members than we could ever count.
And through every version of this place, you’ve been the heartbeat—the queen of ‘Oh yes, we can do that!’ “This ain’t my first rodeo” and the owner of the most infectious smile and wavering hands in the building.
Today we’re not just losing your knowledge—we’re losing a piece of history.
Highlands has no idea how lucky they are to have you.
We’ll miss the sass, the laughs, the memories, and most of all your hand gestures.
So here’s to you, Trace. Thank you for everything! The place won’t be the same without you :)
PS: Tracy had actually resigned before me - for those of you who asking 😂
