Feeling so grateful for the amazing women entrepreneurs we’ve met along this journey 💛 Their creativity, resilience, and dedication inspire us every day. Seeing how they chase their dreams — often while juggling full-time jobs — reminds us why we started Comfort Bowl in the first place. A huge thank you also to The Kitchen Project and all its graduates 🙏 — your support, guidance, and shared experiences have been such a source of inspiration!

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce Comfort will not be at the market today. Our beloved son, Tin Tin, has passed away.

Tin Tin was a sweet, shy boy who just turned 10. Born on the streets of Hong Kong, he was one of three siblings, and we adopted him and his sister, Starlet. He was an incredible host, starting out shy around guests but always coming out to make sure everyone felt welcome. He was also fiercely protective of his sister, so much so that he licked off all her whiskers! Tin Tin had a way of always standing between us and our laptops, acting as our personal “work-life balance patrol officer.”

Our home feels emptier without him. He was loved to the moon and back a billion times and will be deeply missed. We hope he’s found a beautiful land over the rainbow. 🌈

📸 This handmade ceramic bowl — a gift from our lovely regular Cindy (now a good friend, who always comes by with Patrick and Sam) — completely melted my heart. It’s not just a bowl. It’s a reminder of why we started Comfort Bowl in the first place.

🥟 We didn’t set out to get rich — we set out to connect people through food. And thanks to you, we’ve done just that.

To the many familiar faces who keep showing up — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Special shoutouts to Connie, Hayden, Esperanza, Pukiko, Iris, the two Wendys, Shirley, Daphine, Dorothy, Grace, Johnson, Ella, Gigi, David, Kelly, Kin & family, Cindy, Christina, Carmen, JT, Cami, Mauricio, Dante, Max, Marie, Jesse, Ginger, Julie, Bodi, Meijing, Faymie, Evgeniya, John, Nicole, Helen, Rachel, Harry — and so many others whose support and kind words lifted us on rainy days and early mornings.

💬 We’ve been humbled by the feedback, the friendships, the unexpected hugs, and the stories shared over a bowl of wontons.

Now it’s a wrap (for now)! We’re off for a break in July — to rest, reunite with family, and to sit back, reflect on our journey, and maybe — just maybe — dream up something new for the next chapter.

Until then, stay warm, stay hungry, and thank you for making our comfort food a part of your weekends.

Does anyone fancy some White Sugar Cake? 🥥

I still remember the joy of hearing a hawker’s voice echo through the stairwells of our public housing estate in Hong Kong. S/He’d carry a bamboo basket filled with freshly steamed rice cakes and call out, “Bak Tong Gou! Sai Mai Gou!” I’d rush to my mother’s cabinet, grab a few coins, and dash to the front gate to buy a piece through the metal bars.

That soft, slightly chewy texture and gentle sweetness — I cherished every bite.

Today, I visited a retired couple from Guangzhou who generously made me some White Sugar Cake and shared their recipe. What a gift.

Yesterday, we travelled all the way from town to Hobsonville just to grab a fresh batch of kimchi from the newly relocated — because when it comes to ingredients, we don’t compromise.

Ginger, a fellow graduate of , makes her kimchi using local cabbage and radish, with a bold touch of Fijian ginger that gives each bite a zingy, warming kick. We pair it with our handmade pork & prawn wontons to create something truly special — a fusion of Korean spice and Hong Kong comfort. 💥🇰🇷❤️🇭🇰

Come try this bold marriage of flavours — made with love, and served in compostable bowls (or bring your own!).
