These newly arrived editions by Terry Stringer offer an opportunity to own a work by one of New Zealand's leading contemporary artists in an accessible format.

Night and Day (Ex Voto) rewards curiosity. Crafted from pressed copper and oil paint, the work reveals different imagery as it is viewed from alternate angles, inviting the viewer to slow down, look again, and discover something new.

Drawing on the tradition of the ex voto—an offering of gratitude or devotion—Stringer creates a work that shifts with perspective, revealing new meanings from every angle.

Newly installed on the Sculpture Trail: 'A Call to Restoration (Bell no. 24)' by Nicholas Duval-Smith.

Resting quietly amongst the trees, this bronze bell offers an invitation to pause, listen, and reconnect.

When activated, its resonant tone carries through the landscape, drawing attention to the space around us and the connections within it. Reflecting on themes of return — to self, to others, and to what matters most — the work creates a moment of stillness within the native bush.

As Duval-Smith hopes, A Call to Restoration may help us "slow down and recall what matters."

Created using impressions of the artist’s own hands, this cast bronze and stainless steel work reflects on touch, growth, memory, and the ways we come to understand the world physically.

Made while the artist was hapū (pregnant) with her second child, the sculpture explores ideas of transformation and knowledge passed through the body and across generations.

Venison carpaccio with pistachio, balsamic cranberries, smoked garlic aioli, Grana formaggio and crostini — a dish we’re incredibly proud to share with our guests here at Brick Bay.

We’ve been continuing to evolve the trail with new installations and sculpture movement, creating fresh discoveries for returning visitors.⁠

This week we’re pleased to highlight established New Zealand sculptor Richard Mathieson, whose abstract works reference botanical growth, repetition in nature, and the landscape.⁠

Positioned beside the twin lake, '42 Steps' gradually reveals itself through the landscape, its patterned bronze and stainless steel surfaces catching and shifting the light throughout the day.⁠

Now open on the Brick Bay Sculpture Trail, Within the Wings of the Kāruhiruhi is the winning installation of the 2026 Brick Bay Folly.

Designed and built by a team of emerging architects balancing the final stages of their studies, the project transformed an ambitious concept into a full-scale architectural installation through months of experimentation, problem solving and hard work.

From weaving and preserving thousands of fallen leaves by hand to navigating the realities of construction for the very first time, the journey behind this folly was as remarkable as the structure itself.

We’re incredibly proud of the team, mentors and sponsors who helped bring this project to life.

A new work has recently joined the sculpture trail, 'Oculus' by Johnny Turner.

'Oculus' (2023) is a contemporary marble sculpture exploring form and void, where a central opening invites light, landscape, and viewer to pass through and connect.

Recently installed, it brings a strong sculptural presence into the landscape and is a significant contemporary addition to the collection.

Works like this are conceived for outdoor environments and long-term engagement, where scale, placement and material can be fully experienced.

Entries are now open for the 2027 Brick Bay Folly.

Each year, the competition gives emerging architects the opportunity to take a concept from sketchbook to full-scale reality, creating a temporary installation for the Brick Bay Sculpture Trail with the support of leading industry mentors and sponsors.

The winning team receives $30,000 worth of funding, mentoring and in-kind support to bring their vision to life.
