Sauda Backcountry Challenge 2026 - Official Competition Faces
Sauda Backcountry Challenge 2026 is proud to present a mix of a true classic and an exciting new challenge for this year’s edition of Sauda BCC.
The 2026 competition format will be spread over two days of freeriding, combining 4-star, 3-star and 2-star categories.
Day 1 will be a pure freeride competition, featuring steep alpine terrain with exposed faces, cliffs and technical line choices, covering the full range of freeride difficulty.
Day 2 introduces a freeride hybrid format, blending creative line selection in steep terrain with 10–12 man-made features, including backcountry jumps and hits placed throughout all suitable zones. Expect progression, style and pure riding joy.
Competition Face - Day 1 | Tindane (1190 m.a.s.l.)
Day 1 will take place on the majestic Tindane, starting at 1190 meters above sea level and running all the way down to the base of the mountain.
This marks a brand-new competition face in Sauda BCC’s 20-year history, offering a record-long descent with legendary cliffs, couloirs and big-mountain lines, a true testpiece for freeriders from around the world.
Competition Face - Day 2 | Ravanfjell (982 m.a.s.l.)
Day 2 will be held on the legendary Ravanfjell, with a start at 982 meters above sea level.
Here, creativity, amplitude and technical tricks will come into play in a competition that sits right at the crossroads between freeride and slopestyle, all driven by flow, progression and the pure joy of skiing and riding.
