Ethiopia Part II
These trips often serve multiple functions, most importantly allowing us to connect with our producing partners and taste the current harvest, but also as a way to connect as a Fuglen team. Over the last years we have made a concerted effort to coordinate our trips so that we can travel together with our Fuglen Tokyo team, but also friends from other coffee roasters around the world. not only to we get work done, cupping and selecting coffees together, but we also get to enjoy valuable time together over food, coffee, and activities wherever we are.
In Addis, Corey was joined by yusho_yda from FUGLEN COFFEE ROASTERS TOKYO and Masahiro Kaneko from WEEKENDERS COFFEE in Kyoto. Together they cupped coffees from and also spent some time with our friends at Tropiq, a subsidiary of Nordic Approach. This year, the harvest was quite late so the selection of coffees was a bit lower than typical for the time of the year. We were able to taste a lot of great washed coffees, but many of the naturals were still on their way to Addis. Regardless, the sneak peaks prove vital for getting an idea of the coffees we will take in, what we can expect from Ethiopia this year.
