When I first took over Vertshuset, I felt a bit like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse—determined to create a place where people could come together, have fun, and feel safe. From the very beginning, my goal has been to build an environment free from drama, where guests can relax without concern for unwanted behavior, conflict, or disturbances.
I am proud to say that we have successfully maintained a peaceful atmosphere, with no incidents of fighting at Vertshuset since before October. Achieving this has required us to make some difficult decisions, including restricting access for individuals who have not respected our standards. While this has led to a short-term decline in attendance, we firmly believe that in the long run, it will help establish Vertshuset as a trusted and enjoyable venue for everyone.
Our hope is that the community will come to understand that any form of fighting, destructive behavior, or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated. By maintaining these standards, we aim to attract new guests who value a safe and welcoming social space.
I would also like to express my sincere appreciation for our incredible staff. Their professionalism, dedication, and support have been essential in making this vision a reality.
Looking ahead, my ambition is to keep Vertshuset open seven days a week from 15:00 to 02:30. To make this possible, we will need continued support from the community.
This week, we are introducing several new activities designed to bring people together in a fun and inclusive way. Events such as “Tinder Night” and “The Banana” are fresh ideas that we hope will appeal to a wide range of guests. We warmly invite everyone in Odda to join us—whether it’s for a soda after work, a drink with friends, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere.
While Saturday nights feature a DJ and tend to attract a younger crowd, the other six days of the week are designed to be welcoming and enjoyable for guests of all ages.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at Vertshuset.
