🆕 Cambi is entering Egypt with a major project in Alexandria.

Cambi will supply four Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) systems for the upgrade of the Alexandria West wastewater treatment plant, working with a joint venture of Metito Water Treatment and Hassan Allam Construction.

The project will increase treatment capacity while introducing biological treatment and anaerobic digestion to one of Alexandria’s two main wastewater treatment plants.

By enabling substantially higher digester loading rates, Cambi THP will help:

🔹 Reduce the number of required digesters from 16 to 8
🔹 Increase biogas production and help make the plant energy self-sufficient
🔹 Improve dewatering and reduce final solids for disposal
🔹 Avoid the equivalent of around 20 25-tonne truckloads of final solids every day
🔹 Save valuable space on a land-constrained site

The project marks an important milestone for Cambi as our first delivery in Egypt, supporting more efficient and sustainable wastewater and sludge management in Alexandria.

Watch highlights from Cambi at IFAT India 2026, where the momentum behind a more sustainable wastewater sector was impossible to miss!

The pace of change in India's wastewater sector was clear at this year's IFAT India. It was energising to join the conversations shaping a more sustainable approach to sludge management and discuss the role of thermal hydrolysis.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Cambi booth, whether to learn about the technology or discuss the new CambiTHP projects for Mumbai's Versova and Malad facilities.

We were especially pleased to welcome Consul General Monica O. Nagelgaard from the Royal Norwegian Consulate Office in Mumbai and to share updates on Cambi's work in India.

Thank you for your strong interest; our team looks forward to the next one!

More than two decades of THP in Dublin, and the journey continues. In July, Cambi signed a contract with Celtic Anglian Water to extend the operating life of two Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) streams at the Ringsend wastewater treatment plant.

Commissioned in 2002, Streams 1 and 2 formed Cambi’s first international project and its first large-scale THP installation globally. The new project will extend their operating life, complementing the comprehensive upgrade of Stream 3 completed in 2024.

Project highlights:
âś… Extending infrastructure life
âś… Building on Proven Performance
âś… Maintaining Plant Operations

The two streams are expected to be completed during 2027.
