Thank you for visiting my stall at Molenmarkt last week. And to those of you who came all the way from Arnhem, it means more to me than you know.
Molenmarkt was my very first market, so this festival will always have a special place in my heart. I never want to miss it.
I love that Molenmarkt brings together so many people who are building something of their own. Local entrepreneurs following their dreams, associations, and even children selling something.
This year, I made more treats than I ever had for Molenmarkt. And honestly, I was nervous.
Many of the flavors and colors came naturally from plants, and I made the curds, sauces and compotes myself. I spent days preparing everything.
When you put that much time and care into something, you can't help but hope that people will enjoy it.
So when some of you came specifically to find my stall, and when some of you even made me your first stop, it made me incredibly happy. You have no idea how much that meant to me.
I was also happy to share a stall area with BK of love, KAUR and Marina from Painted by Marina. We started our businesses around a similar time, and I've enjoyed watching and supporting each other's journeys. Having other local entrepreneurs around you makes this journey feel a little less lonely.
For this Molenmarkt, I focused on cakes, especially flavours that I love. There were lots of Southeast Asian and East Asian-inspired flavours, alongside my personal favourite: kuih-muih, traditional Malaysian sweets that are light, comforting and not too sweet.
And the best part? I sold out. Thank you!!
After all those days of preparation, it felt like my hard work had paid off.
Thank you to everyone who came, bought something, shared my work, or simply stopped to say hello. And a huge thank you to my volunteers for helping me. I truly couldn't do these markets without you.
I hope to see more of you at my future markets. Every visit, every purchase and every recommendation help a small local business like mine keep going.
So my next market will be Wageningen Zaterdagmarkt, 26th September.
See you there!
