Pixel is weer thuis 🐾✨

Het is even stil geweest, maar onze lieve Pixel heeft zijn definitieve plekje in het café weer ingenomen. Hoewel we hem ontzettend missen om ons heen, voelt het goed dat hij weer 'thuis' is.

Zijn as heeft een mooi plekje gekregen in een bijzondere urn, in de ruimte waar hij zo graag was. Zo blijft hij voor altijd onderdeel van onze familie en de plek waar hij door zovelen werd geknuffeld en geaaid.

Kom je binnenkort een keertje langs om samen met ons herinneringen op te halen? ☕️❤️

Pixel is back home 🐾✨

It has been quiet for a while, but our dear Pixel has returned to his permanent spot in the café. Although we miss his physical presence immensely, it feels right to have him back 'home' where he belongs.

His ashes have been placed in a beautiful urn in a special spot, right in the heart of the room he loved so much. This way, he remains a part of our family and the place where he was cuddled by so many of you.

Will you drop by soon to share some memories of him with us? ☕️❤️

Lieve allemaal,

Helaas moeten we jullie mededelen dat we Pixel vandaag hebben moeten laten inslapen. Vanochtend kwamen we in het café en kon hij niet meer opstaan, zijn achterpootjes waren verlamd en hij had veel pijn. We zijn gelijk met hem langs de dierenarts gegaan. Deze verlamming is helaas een symptoom van zijn hartkwaal (HCM), wat al in een vergevorderd stadium was. Het leek de afgelopen tijd goed met hem te gaan, maar helaas kan het met deze ziekte ineens voorbij zijn. De dierenarts kon niks meer voor hem doen en hebben we de moeilijke beslissing moeten maken om hem in te laten slapen. Hij is nu in het kattencafé, zodat de katten, personeel, vrijwilligers en vrienden wel nog afscheid van hem kunnen nemen. Vanavond wordt hij gecremeerd en zal zijn as in een mooie urn in het café komen te staan. Zo kan hij altijd nog dichtbij ons zijn.

We zijn dankbaar voor de mooie tijd met hem en hij heeft tot op het laatste moment kunnen genieten van zijn tijd in het kattencafé. We gaan je missen lieve Pixel ❤️

Vandaag en morgen (12 en 13 mei) is het kattencafé gesloten.

Dear all,

It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that we had to put Pixel to sleep today. This morning, when we arrived at the café, he could no longer stand up. His hind legs were paralyzed and he was in a lot of pain. We immediately took him to the vet. Unfortunately, this paralysis was a symptom of his heart condition (HCM), which was already in an advanced stage. Lately, he seemed to be doing well, but sadly, with this disease things can suddenly take a turn for the worse. The vet could no longer do anything for him, and we had to make the difficult decision to let him go.

He is now at the cat café, so that the cats, staff, volunteers, and friends can still say goodbye to him. Tonight, he will be cremated, and his ashes will be placed in a beautiful urn in the café, so that he can always remain close to us.

We are grateful for the wonderful time we had with him, and he was able to enjoy his time at the cat café until the very end. We will miss you, dear Pixel ❤️

Today and tomorrow (May 12 and 13), the cat café will be closed.

Luna is vandaag naar de dierenarts geweest voor een hartecho. Tijdens een eerdere controle hoorde de dierenarts een hartruisje, en daarom wilden we dit voor de zekerheid laten onderzoeken. Helaas blijkt dat ze, net als onze lieve Pixel, ook Hypertrofische Cardiomyopathie (HCM) heeft. Bij deze aandoening is de (linker) hartspierwand verdikt, wat invloed heeft op de bloedtoevoer naar het hart.

Gelukkig bevindt het zich nog in een beginnend stadium. Volgens de dierenarts is medicatie op dit moment daarom nog niet nodig, omdat haar hart het voorlopig zelf goed kan opvangen en compenseren. Wel moeten we haar extra goed in de gaten houden. Over ongeveer een half jaar krijgt ze opnieuw een hartecho, zodat we kunnen bekijken hoe de aandoening zich ontwikkelt.

Luna went to the vet today for an echocardiogram. During a previous check-up, the vet detected a heart murmur, and we wanted to have it examined just to be safe. Unfortunately, it turns out that, just like our sweet Pixel, she also has Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). This condition causes a thickening of the (left) wall of the heart muscle, which affects the blood flow to the heart.

Thankfully, it is still in an early stage. According to the vet, she does not need medication at this point, as her heart is still able to compensate for it quite well on its own. However, we do need to monitor her closely. In about six months, she will have another echocardiogram to see how the condition has progressed.

Onze lieve Pixel is vandaag 11 jaar geworden 🐾🎉 De koning van het café!
Vorig jaar was een moeilijke tijd omdat hij ziek was, dus we zijn extra dankbaar dat hij er nog is.

We genieten van elke dag met hem en hopen dat er nog heel veel mooie jaren samen mogen volgen ❤️

Last year was a difficult time because he was ill, so we’re especially grateful that he’s still with us.

We cherish every day with him and hope for many more beautiful years together ❤️

🚧 Gesloten tijdens de Rotterdam Marathon! 🏃‍♂️

Wegens slechte bereikbaarheid zijn wij tijdens de marathon op 12 april gesloten.
De katten vermaken zich ondertussen wel met het rennen achter hun speeltjes 🐱🎾

We wensen alle marathonlopers heel veel succes! 💪

Maar geen zorgen: dinsdag staan we weer fris en vol energie voor jullie klaar!

Meanwhile, the cats are happily entertaining themselves by running after their toys 🐱🎾

Vandaag zijn Matcha en Taro alweer 1 jaar geworden! 🎉🐾
Onze twee kleine boefjes die geen dag hetzelfde laten verlopen. Altijd ondeugend, altijd op avontuur… maar stiekem ook de allerliefste knuffelkonten die er zijn. 💚

Dankbaar voor alle chaos, kopjes, zoomies en knuffelmomentjes die jullie brengen. Op naar nog veel meer jaren vol kattenkwaad en liefde! 🐱💫
