💬 Meet Radboud Foodie Chiara
🇩🇪 Chiara, this friendly face, you find across various food outlets on campus since the start of 2024. She started studying at Radboud in 2022 and is currently a full-time AI student; a program which she really enjoys as it combines maths and science, but also takes a social approach which aligns with her interest to talk and connect with people.
☕🥪 As an international student from Germany, working at F&B also really helped her deepen her Dutch language skills:
“I find it really nice to learn the language because that’s how you really integrate into a culture.” For her, that was easiest at the Coffee Corners because she has more time there and more personal interactions with people getting coffee or snacks. To get into the Dutch mindset before work, she sometimes puts on Kinderen for Kinderen, she says with a laugh.
🌳🚲 Besides studying full-time, Chiara enjoys baking, meal prepping, swimming regularly and is active on the board of the photography association. What she especially appreciates about Nijmegen and Radboud campus life is the greenery and how lively and connected everything feels. “You can bike everywhere, meet up everywhere and there’s always something happening.”
📊 As a data girl, Chiara also notices patterns everywhere. Mondays are the days when people drink much more coffee, and of course during exam periods coffee consumption really takes off. It also depends on the location and the routines you notice there. “People are creatures of habit.”
🥗🍽️She really likes the diversity of tasks and working across locations with flexible shifts. “I really enjoy that every location has a different vibe and different routines. Another thing that caught her eye is the increase of fresh and healthy options, like salads, in the F&B food offerings.
