Four students from the Design Academy wanted to capture the childlike delight of creating potions from anything and everything they could find in the garden.
On the eve of halloween, the 31st of october, an event took place. In the Food Lab, in the back of Ketelhuis the midnight academy gathered a secretly selected group of people who each had a relation to their topic at hand, Alchemy. Chefs, food fascinators, liquor producers, designers and druggies entered to fire and smells, and shelves full of ingredients. A table was laid out with tools, and next to them, questions to tickle the mind. An evening unfolded, the first potion was a tea served hot to warm them up for the evening ahead. The second potion was for energy, with hints of south american guarana, high on caffeine, sechuan buttons for electricity in the mouth and citrus fruits to brighten up the health. The third potion was for love, with rosemary for remembrance, yoghurt for virility and strawberry as an ancient symbol of love. The fourth potion was for dreaming and imagination, for at this point a moment of playtime was to be. But alas, that never happened for the guest were already lost in playfulness along the way. At the midst of night, the ingredients had all been opened up and relabelled, the guests had taken the given recipes and made them their own, friendships were in the making and laughter was all around. But all good things must come to an end. As the night drew to a close, the last potion was served. A serum of soothing and drowsiness inducing tea. Served like grandma's honeyed milk to lullaby the guests to sleep. And all said goodbye to return to their homes happily ever after.
