🌿 Tulsi | The Holy Basil ✨ 🪔 🌺
After years of searching, after many attempts , I finally found Tulsi and a shop in the EU that delivered tulsi to my home!
In India, for many, tulsi is not just a plant. It is the heart of most homes , the angan (courtyard). Houses were designed to build around tulsi. In the Vedic tradition, it is part of dincharya (daily routine) after bathing (soucha), we attend to tulsi, offer water, light a diya, and begin our sadhana, our daily practice. This morning ritual, simple as it is, keeps one deeply grounded. We have beautiful stories and reasoning around our rituals, and why this has been a part of many household for centuries ..
In Ayurveda, tulsi is called the “Queen of Herbs” , used for healing, balance, and clarity. It’s a reminder of purity, presence, and the breath. It’s kept with a lot of respect.
Today, two tulsi plants arrived in Den Bosch. The home has travelled. And so have I.
📝 Note: Sacred objects belong in sacred spaces. No “Buddha in the bathroom” …It is done with and out of reverence towards ancient knowledge and teachers (guru). It’s a practice of awareness.
In Yoga, we don’t place sacred objects in casual or unclean spaces, not out of fear, but out of reverence for the knowledge we receive. It’s a practice of awareness.
Just as you wouldn’t eat where you___well, you know 🥴
