Do NOT go trick-or-treating in the Netherlands without knowing this first… 🚪❌
If you knock on doors on October 31st, expect closed curtains. Halloween here isn't about kids collecting candy door-to-door—it's mostly costume parties for adults.
The Dutch actually have their own tradition: Sint-Maarten on November 11th. Kids make paper lanterns at school, walk the streets after dark, and must sing a song at the door to earn their treats. No scary costumes, no tricks… and yes, there is always that one neighbor handing out mandarins instead of candy. 🍊💀
