Changing the coffee industry was never going to be an easy road. Last week, that became a little more literal than we would have liked...

One of our trucks carrying 131 bags of washed coffee overturned on its way from our farm to Addis Ababa. No one was injured, thank god. But the truck was a total loss.

The good news: the coffee was still undamaged. Every single bag was recovered by our amazing Ethiopian team, made it safely to our roastery and is now on its way to Amsterdam by sea.

This is a reminder that coffee doesn't magically appear on supermarket shelves. Behind every cup are farmers, producers and communities who make it possible: connected by a supply chain that crosses continents, mountains, rough roads and unexpected setbacks.

Most of that journey remains invisible to the consumer. We think it's a story worth showing.
