Our sincere apologies to our customers wishing to order directly through our app/website. Unfortunately, our hosting provider, XS4ALL, has decided to terminate all contracts from the 1st October before they are eventually swallowed up by KPN. We have therefore had to move to another hosting provider but unfortunately, things haven't gone as smoothly as we had hoped. But, we are still open for business, still accepting orders by phone and via Thuisbezorgd. We hope to have our website back up and running soon. We also hope to have our app up and running for users of iPhones at a later date.

The first recorded use of the word "paprika" in English is from 1896, although an earlier reference to Turkish paprika was published in 1831. The word derives from the Hungarian word paprika, a diminutive of the Serbo-Croatian word papar (meaning "pepper"), which in turn came from the Latin piper or modern Greek piperi. Paprika and similar words, peperke, piperke, and paparka, are used in various Slavic languages in the Balkans for bell peppers.

The word "paprika" entered a large number of languages, in many cases probably via German. European languages use a similar word, while examples from other languages include the Japanese papurika.

Central European paprika was hot until the 1920s when a Szeged breeder found one plant that produced sweet fruit, then grafted it onto other plants.

Paprika (Bell pepper), just one of the many ingredients to be found in Thai food dishes, whether here in the Netherlands or Thailand.
