As the 2026 tea harvest season has come to an end, we’ve been reflecting on our appreciation for all the tea farmers who put their heart and soul into this year’s harvest.
We wanted to share a throwback video from our first tea field visit in 2024.
It was our first time visiting tea farms in Japan — let alone seeing traditional honzu fields in person. The way the light filtered through the traditional honzu shade felt just magical, everything shimmering softly in the wind. The rich, airy soil perfectly covered the ground, a clear sign of the love and care the owners had for the field.
At the time, MATSU-CHA was still in preparation — just two graphic designers with big dreams, slowly building something we believed in despite having very little to show for it at that stage. The family were kind enough to trust us, taking us around and sharing their world with us, while also welcoming our two very young children (who of course interrupted our conversations and wandered off here and there…).
We’re still incredibly grateful for the generosity and hospitality we received throughout the trip.
We hope that, in some small way, we can return that kindness through what we do at MATSU-CHA — by sharing wonderful matcha and Japanese teas, exploring exciting ways to celebrate them, and helping connect curious people back to where these beautiful green leaves come from.
Looking forward to going back soon and continuing to learn more from the people behind it all.
