Another person asked me today why I chose to sell foodstuffs of all things a graduate should sell.
I asked him to mention the things a graduate should be selling or be into, he mentioned real estate, fashion designing, make up artiste, perfume selling etc infact he was mentioning a whole lot of things.
I asked him another question, I asked if he had not seen graduates selling foodstuffs before? He said he has seen sha but he always wonders why they chose to be doing that.
Well, first of all, the things he mentioned doesn't resonate with me, I don't really like them, if you enroll me for free I would go there to press phone, I can do fashion designing but if I'm into it and see foodstuffs related opportunity or teaching opportunity, I will abandon it for it, so why stress myself building a career around it. He's not the only person asking why I'm into foodstuffs but out of most persons that have asked, some feels it's a shameful thing to do, while me like this, I feel it's the most glorifying thing to do, why? Because I have passion for it, it's what gets me on: Anything Food and Teaching or anything that has money into it but people doesn't know.
I can do anything around food for free, if I was not into foodstuffs, I would be in the classroom teaching or would have a special kind of crèche.
Some would ask, why then did you go to school, oh my! I wouldn't want to sound ru.de but that question most times to me sounds like the lamest question to ask but then, ignorant is just too bad.
While most believe that going to school is to go and learn how to prepare a CV and find work in an office, the concept of school is far beyond that, and that's why if some persons can't get a job with their certificates, they would conclude that the school they went to was a total waste of time and money.
So I told him, that if I was not selling foodstuffs, I would look for something else people were not doing much, cause unemployment in the society emanated from everybody wanting to do what everybody was doing, everywhere then got filled up.
Even the foodstuffs I'm selling, I can't sell regular rice, spaghetti, noodles, no way, I will choose what my locality lacks and sell it.
So for so many people that are curious, I didn't jump on what was available for survival, I looked for what was not available and decided to make it available, something that I won't have to be dragging with a thousand persons.
I first started with running errands, and some persons were making jest of me, that was something that could fetch me their one month salary in three days but what do they know.
So you know, some persons have passions in the most unimaginable things, people like me, my own interests differ a lot and they most arises from what people around me needs.
I could go on and on but for now, I'd like to put that you may wonder all you want but there are treasures in the most unimaginable places and some people would seem weird to you because they choose to follow the unimaginable place, just don't look down on them while you chase your own path cause when life opens up to you, they could be a thousand miles ahead of you, even from their "DUNGEONS"
That being written , I want to tell you people that whenever my okpei arrives from the east, I always remove it from any container they used to secure it from releasing its smell and carry it like that in a nylon, that would make it smell and call potential customers and sometimes, I sell out to strangers before getting home.
That's how I sell some other products like Abacha, because I know the standard of my Abacha, I could take an evening walk with it in plain white nylon, before I could finish the walk routine, I must have gotten 3-5 customers who have been looking for quality abacha in Lagos.
Now that's a good advert strategy for those who are too shy to talk.
Oya bye!
