BEFORE YOU ORDER THAT BEAUTIFUL CAKE, READ THIS!!!

Saw this post on naijabakers page and as a baker, I totally agree with this👏🏽. Customers also deserve to know what goes into the cakes they consume.

1. Black cakes often contain high amounts of food coloring. Good and no petroleum food colors are not cheap. Most bakers can’t afford to buy the high end, no petroleum derived ones.
So, Most of the artificial food colorings used by many bakers are petroleum-based and while approved for use, excessive consumption is not advisable.

2. Rainbow cakes especially contain multiple layers of coloring, which is why moderation is important, especially for children.

3. Red velvet cakes also contain a high quantity of red coloring, and many of the red colorings used contain "Red 40". Some studies have raised concerns about excessive intake of artificial colorings, which is why it’s always good to consume in moderation.

4. Even gold dust decorations matter. Not every shiny gold dust used on cakes is edible. Some are craft products labeled “non-toxic” but not actually safe for consumption.

This is why quality cakes are not cheap. Bakers who use high-quality edible products and premium ingredients spend more to ensure safety and quality. Beautiful cakes are amazing, but quality and health should matter too.
