Sometimes people ask aiya why your food so expensive. Well, most of our food ingredients / raw ingredients, we buy from family run business / old couples, in which, to form a relationship with them and there is a genuine interaction (except the dry ingredients like garlic, onions, flour, sauces, which I buy from wholesale markets because I buy by the guni. Hence, the money pumped into supporting t

he livelihoods or these people instead of corporations. Of course, it would be more cost effective for me to buy kampong eggs etc from those big borong places but I would rather it go to the hands of an old couple who smiles warmly and get worried when I don’t come at my usual time to pick up my stock. My chicken comes from a mother-daughter team who slogs from early morning. Slaughtering and prepping the chicken instead of those found in the supermarkets that, yes, it cost RM1-RM3 cheaper, but God knows the source. Yes, profit matters but you only have one chance in this lifetime. So why not live with a heart. The money you pay for ‘ethical food’ flows down to feeding the mouths of many genuinely etching out of a living through sweat and hard work, and the love of it. The big corporation’s are killing the local stores, which have been handed down through the generation/family. So, next time you think of hurling abuse at the price of the food, please think of us and support us, who sell ethical food.
