Memories in the Wind
An exhibition by Rainbow ART Square 七彩艺术坊

Good news. Rainbow ART Square 七彩艺术坊 and tangankraf have decided to extend the exhibition until further notice. You are welcome to visit our space at Jalan Meriam. Operating hours are Wednesday to Sunday. 12 PM to 9 PM.

The exhibition, Memories in the Wind, explores a collection of moments through the work of 300 students. Each piece reflects a personal memory. The wind symbolises the passage of time and the fluid nature of memory.

The drawings are suspended like wind chimes. They sway and turn gently in the air. As if childhood fragments are being stirred and brought to light. Together, these individual memories form a shared portrait of the town. Muar. One that shimmers and moves within the community.

A little trivia. Sun Jin Xin, the visual artist behind this exhibition and Rainbow Art Square, is a graduate of Universiti Sains Malaysia (Universiti Sains Malaysia). School of the Arts (Arts USM). My junior. Hidup USM!

Kuda Kepang’s status in Johor is defined by a significant religious ruling dating back nearly two decades. In 2009, the Johor State Fatwa Committee officially declared the traditional form of the dance haram (prohibited).

A major shift came on 1 December 2025, when the Buku Garis Panduan Persembahan Kuda Kepang Johor (Johor Kuda Kepang Performance Guidelines) was officially launched.

The findings were reviewed by the Fatwa Committee to ensure all traditional khurafat (superstitious) elements were eliminated.

This framework helps the community preserve Kuda Kepang as cultural heritage while staying within the guidelines set out in the Buku Garis Panduan Persembahan Kuda Kepang Johor.
