Today, we closed the doors of Paprika Paradise - PaPa for the very last time.

When we opened Paprika Paradise, we wanted to create more than just a restaurant. We wanted a place where people could meet, share stories, celebrate special moments, and experience a little piece of Hungary here in Borneo.

This journey has been filled with challenges, but even more importantly, it has been filled with 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬, 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬.

𝐓𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 – 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮. Thank you for every visit, every kind word, every message of support, and every meal shared with us.

Over the past months, we welcomed people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and countries. Together, we created something truly special.

This weekend, Paprika Paradise - PaPa will open its doors for the last time.

Before we say goodbye, we would love to welcome you once more for a hearty bowl of 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗽 and other 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 that we have proudly shared with Kuching over the past months.

Hungary and Sarawak: Connected by History 🇭🇺🇲🇾

This morning at the 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐤 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲, the launch of the book "Xantus and Borneo" brought together scholars, historians and distinguished guests to reflect on the legacy of 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐬 𝐗𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐬, a Hungarian explorer, ethnographer, naturalist and zoologist whose travels and scientific work contributed significantly to the understanding of Southeast Asia and Borneo. He later became the founding director of the 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐙𝐨𝐨 & 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧, one of Hungary's most important scientific and cultural institutions.

The event featured presentations by the book's authors, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐊𝐢𝐬𝐬 and 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐬, and was honoured by the presence of 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐫𝐢 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐮𝐥 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐦 𝐑𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐳𝐚𝐡, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, as well as 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐢𝐩𝐨𝐬, Ambassador of Hungary to Malaysia.

Following the book launch, a carved wooden memorial commemorating the 200th anniversary of Janos Xantus' birth was unveiled, symbolising the enduring friendship and historical ties between Hungary and Sarawak.

More than a celebration of history, today was a reminder that the connections built by explorers, scientists and scholars can continue to inspire friendship and cooperation across generations.

Guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a selection of traditional Hungarian pastries prepared by Paprika Paradise - PaPa , including pogácsa, bejgli and zserbó, offering a taste of Hungary alongside the celebration of our shared history.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 Tamas Kiss, thank you for bringing the story of 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘀 𝗫𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝘀 back to Sarawak.
