He started as a street hawker and became very popular. Around 1969, all hawkers in Kampar were no longer allowed to operate on the streets. They were moved to a number of specified locations, one of which is referred to as the "36 Stalls" (36档) near the new LFS cinema. Foong Mun Kee did not move into any of these locations but instead moved into a corner shop house (42 Jalan Idris, Kampar) next to
where it used to hawk its ice kacang. (refer to black & white picture taken in the 60's) It has continued to service its delicious ice kacang in this 3-storey shop house till today. Foong Mun Kee, the founder, handled over the business to his 2 sons Foong Kah Yow and Foong Kah Sek. They maintained the popularity of the ice kacang and the brothers have often been referred to as the "twins" even though they are not as they dress alike all the time. Today, the famous and popular ice kacang continues to be served by Foong Wai Hoe, the son of Foong Kah Yow. So, what does Foong Mun Kee serve? The most popular items on the menu that one MUST TRY are:

2) Ice Kacang with a top up of Ice Cream
3) Ice Kacang with Coffee
4) Special Ice Kacang
5) Ice Kacang with fresh coconut flesh
How to find the shop?
1) It is at the corner of Jalan Idris and Jalan Post Office. So if you find the post office you will find Foong Mun Kee
2) Foong Mun Kee is on the same street as KFC and Pizza Hut. Placing these 3 shops on a line will be something like ----KFC----Pizza Hut---Foong Mun Kee-----
