Maria’s is a dream come true for Maria Tan and her late husband Philip Tan, Both shared a passion for good food to eat, and cook to eat. At a time when Ipoh had a little to shout of in terms of fine western restaurants, Maria and Philip would scour the world in their travels to discover delightful kitchen secrets. Whatever they chanced upon they would learn and replicate in their own home kitchen,
and share their joy, much to the delight of friends and fellow gourmands in Ipoh. Needless to say, their passion for discriminate quality and taste become fodder for the eventual opening of their first outlet, Maria’s café, in Ipoh.
