We’re all about transparency here 🥹

As a regular cafe-goer myself, I always admired places that kept their quality consistent year after year. Before opening Ghim Ghim, I’ll admit I had that cynical thought sometimes, “maybe they switched to a cheaper option” or “maybe they’re cutting costs” whenever a dish or drink didn’t taste quite the same.

Now that I’m on the other side of the counter, I’ve learned it’s not always that simple. Everything here is made by hand, by people, and that’s exactly where small differences can creep in. Ingredients play a huge role too. We recently learned this firsthand. A change in our oat milk’s formulation (seems more watered down now) completely shifted the taste of one of our best sellers. It’s not something we saw coming, but it turns out this happens more often than you’d think in F&B.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is, staying consistent in this industry is genuinely hard. But when a place manages to do it, people notice. And that’s what brings them back.

So next time before you judge a cafe, maybe bring it up to the owner instead. Most of us are just doing our best for our shops ❤️
