Ethiopia has some of the best food in the game! This is a "fasting plate". It is called that because for 55 days of the holiday Great Lent, Ethiopian Orthodox Christians are only allowed to eat one meal per day, after 3pm, and cannot consume dairy, meat, or eggs. This otherworldly dish hits all of these criteria with style. 🇪🇹

Bread in Central Asia is off the damn charts!! 📈

The circular loaves are imprinted with unique patterns by bread stamps (known as chekkich).

The dough then baked by being slapped onto the searingly hot clay walls of a tandoor oven.

It is a staple of every meal. Freshly baked bread is sold on street corners every few blocks.

When you go to a restaurant they'll ask if you want bread. If you say no they assume you didn't understand the question and bring it anyway.

It is truly some of the best bread I've had anywhere — They have mastered the art.

Nasi Lemak is now among my top favorite dishes. This symphony of flavor served can be found in Malaysia (it is the national dish), Singapore, Indonesia, and southern Thailand.

It is traditionally eaten for breakfast but many places serve it throughout the day. It is also often sold "to go", wrapped securely in a banana leaf.

Why is it so good? It starts with the rice, which is cooked in coconut cream (nasi lemak means 'rich rice'). Add to that roasted peanuts, egg, fried anchovies, fried chicken, and spicy chili sauce known as sambal.

Malaysian food in general is insanely good and doesn't get enough credit. 🇲🇾

Oysters! Gotta love em. Besides being delicious, oysters are one of the most nutritious and sustainable types of seafood you can eat. They also go together particularly well with Guinness. 🍻 Well done

Delicious local meals in Montenegro. The country is influenced by regional foods from Turkey, Serbia, Hungary, and Mediterranean/Italian on the coast. The result is a lot of hearty dishes with cheese, lamb, cabbage, potatoes, mushrooms, and much more. Some pictured dishes are from the coast in Kotor and the rest are in the mountains in Žabljak.

Bosnian coffee is brewed in the Turkish style that makes it very strong and dark. To brew it you boil fine coffee grounds in water in a high neck ǆezv copper pot with a long handle. It is served with sugar cubes and a jelly candy called a lokum. I am not a coffee drinker personally and found this too bitter and unfiltered, but the locals are avid fans.

Turkey has the best desserts I've ever tried, no contest. The baklava is out of this world. It's the perfect pastry layered with chopped pistachios and soaked with honey. Have a good weekend you beautiful people✌🏽

Kebabs of Turkey. Many parts of the country have a regional specialty. Some of my favorites are the pistachio kebab, the eggplant kebab, and the classic chicken döner kebabs. Afiyet Olsun!

Manti are mini Turkish pasta dumplings filled with meat or vegetables. The sauce base is yogurt, garlic, and paprika. Dried mint, sumac, and melted butter are often added as well. This pasta is an instant classic!

This dish likely originated with the Mongols. The horsemen could carry it dry and cook it on the go. Over time, it traveled with Afghan and Turkic people on the Silk Road and made its way into local cuisines across the whole continent.
