OFFICIAL STATEMENT
To those who have been spreading misinformation regarding Nasi Lemak Bukit Anggerik, we would like to clarify several matters.
At no point have we ever claimed that our restaurant is Muslim-owned. We also have never claimed to hold halal certification. The restaurant category displayed on Google was listed as a “Malay Restaurant,” which refers to the type of cuisine served and not the ownership, religious status, or certification of the business.
For customers who may have concerns regarding halal certification, we fully respect your personal choice on whether to dine with us. We have never misled, pressured, or forced anyone to patronize our restaurant. However, we can assure the public that our food handling practices, ingredients, and hygiene standards are maintained with great care and are aligned with halal-friendly practices.
Unfortunately, false accusations and misleading information have recently been circulated online, causing damage to our reputation and business. We respectfully request that individuals stop spreading unverified claims and rumours.
We would also like to address the individual who uploaded a video targeting our restaurant and confronting one of our employees. The employee involved had only been working with us for approximately one week and was not responsible for business management decisions. If there were genuine concerns, the appropriate course of action would have been to communicate directly with the owner or management rather than harassing a staff member.
For the record, we did not alter or manipulate our Google Business category. Business categories on Google can be suggested and edited through Google’s systems and public contributions. We are currently contacting Google to investigate the matter and determine how these changes occurred.
This matter has been formally reported to the relevant authorities, including PDRM, and we are currently seeking legal advice. Any further defamatory statements, harassment, or deliberate spread of false information may result in legal action being taken against those responsible.
We are a Hindu-owned family business proudly serving Malay cuisine to customers from all backgrounds. Ownership ethnicity or religion should never be used to justify harassment, discrimination, or racist behaviour.
As the owner’s son, I have taken it upon myself to address this issue in order to protect my father, our family, our employees, and the reputation of our business.
We thank everyone who has continued to support us and who has taken the time to understand the facts before passing judgment.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nasi Lemak Bukit Anggerik
