What stays when a species begins to disappear?

Not only the silence that follows, but an absence that continues to shape how we see and remember.

Silhouettes brings together sculptural works by Aboud Fares and James Seet, reflecting on endangered species across Southeast Asia, shown as partial presences, held between recognition and loss.

Through metal, ceramic, fracture, and force, the exhibition considers extinction as an ongoing condition. The silhouette becomes not just an outline, but a trace of what’s changing and no longer whole.

Silhouettes invites us to reflect not only on what has been lost, but what remains.

This one gathers voices, perspectives, and lived histories into a single afternoon, where textiles are not just seen, but understood through the hands and minds that shape their meaning.

From the lens of curation to the voices that carry history forward, this closing programme gathers reflections on how craft is remembered, interpreted, and lived today.

The Peranakan gold belt carries more than ornament. It is a striking piece of heritage jewellery and holds memory in its making.

Across its linked panels shows delicate monograms, quiet markers of identity and craftsmanship shaped by hand and time. At its centre, the buckle draws the eye: phoenixes, peonies, pomegranates, symbols of grace, prosperity, and continuity.

A piece like this does not simply complete a look. It carries lineage, and the many lives that came before it.

Come spend time with pieces like this, up close and unhurried, at HARTA.

Every Raya dish tells a story of home, family, and tradition.

HARTA presents Cooking Memory: Raya Food as Cultural Heritage in Malaysia with Kalsom Taib, as we explore how Malaysian Raya food carries history on every plate.

Recipes are more than instructions because they are memory preserved, culture expressed, and stories passed down through generations. Drawing from her decades of research and writing, Kalsom invites you to taste and reflect on how food shapes identity and keeps heritage alive.
