The stall is located at the junction of Jalan Pasar and Jalan Paya Terubong on the way to Kek Lok Si Temple in Penang. It is established since 1955 by Lee Lay Hua. Now, the stall is in the transition from her son, Ang Kak Seong to the next generation. Penang Air Itam Laksa provides one of the best Assam Laksa in Penang. Penang Assam Laksa or better known as Penang Laksa, is originated from the eme

rgence of Chinese and Malay elements (Baba and Nyonya). The specialty of Penang Laksa is its thick and sour minced fish soup with a little spiciness. That is because the soup is cooked with chili paste and assam (tamarind) water to prevent the fishy smell. The soup is served with rice noodles and vegetables, and shrimp paste. The shrimp paste adds sweetness to the soup, which distinguish Penang Laksa from other types of Laksa in Malaysia.
