Hi everyone! Long time no post. I hope you are all doing great 😃 I've hopped back on to the old page to share the exciting news that the lovely lads who used to work for us at El Duke have set up their own fish 'n' chip takeaway next door to our former premises. Please show them some love!

Hello to everyone from sleepy Dorset!

We hope that you have had a fabulous summer. We know a lot of you will be gearing up for the annual migration to Zihuatanejo and we felt that it was time for an update from the 'El Duke' family...

We are now settled back in the UK & doing well. Unfortunately we all suffered a spell of ill-health at the end of last season (the dreaded dengue) and were unable to set up the new premises before our departure. After much thought we have made the difficult decision not to re-open El Duke this autumn/ until further notice. This is largely due to the logistical challenges of running a business in Zihua whilst living in the UK for most of the year.

We really do feel blessed to have shared this wonderful adventure with you all & enjoyed a whole lot of tasty fish 'n' chips! We will keep this page live in the hope that El Duke will one day return to Zihua :-)

The end of an era!

Thank you so much to all of the wonderful friends and customers who joined us for the final week of El Duke as we know it 🥰

Here are some photos from our last shift as a husband & wife team and the spontaneous British lock-in style party that followed... I love that everyone here was on board with it, from old friends to first-time customers 🙌

Thank you to every single one of our staff & customers for making El Duke feel like the most magical place for the past two years. You will always have a special place in my heart 💖

Now it's time to flat-pack the furniture & move into our new location, in preparation for next season when Jesús will be returning solo to fire up those fryers once more 🔥

Big news from the 'El Duke' family 📣

As many of you will be aware, we have been planning for some time to return to the UK in June & for Dad A.K.A Jesús/ Chef to return annually during high season to open the business for your fish 'n' chip dining pleasure :-)

However, at the weekend we were informed by our landlord of a very large increase in rental fees for our premises which make it unfeasible to stay at our current location, given the small, seasonal nature of our business.

Initially we were taken aback by this unanticipated change of plans, but as they say: within each crisis lies an opportunity! Five days later & we are excitedly making plans to move to our new family-owned location just 5 minutes down the road 🤗

More details to follow soon 👀

In the meantime, we will be operating out of our current premises until Friday 12th April, at which point we will close for the season & get to work on the move!

There's not a lot of mahi mahi around at the moment! But there are plenty more fish in the sea & you may find some tasty alternatives on our menu over the coming days and weeks 🙂

Peak season has peaked and footfall has fallen, so from Monday 25th March until 30th April, El Duke will be open from 5pm to 9.30pm, Monday to Saturday only!
