APPLE iPOD, the worlds first smallest digital music device revolusionized the world of music when it launched in the early 2000's. In South Africa, iHop launched the APPLE iPOD on behalf of Core, the official distributor of Apple in South Africa, in partnership with South Africa's biggest radio station, METRO FM and product seeding among an influencer network which included leading media mogul and former Miss South Africa, Bassie Khumalo, Sports Illustrated cover girl and former Guess model, Minki van der Westhuizen, Kwaito star, Mdu, Tv personality Chi Chi Letsoalo and the late R&B star, TK. Everyday for one week, Metro's Azania talked to a different celebrity- live on air on her route 326 show- asking them about their Top 5 songs on their APPLE iPOD's playlist and favourite APPLE iPOD features. Listeners got to win apple iPods and accessories everyday for 5 days and to post their own personal play list on the site, and the play lists were then voted for by the public for the most popular list to win massive Apple prizes. MTN is the Official FIFA 2010 Mobile Partner. iHop and MTN conceived a multi-media platform to welcome, interface and engage with in-coming or departing football and other visitors through South African host-city airports. The engagement zones ranging between 75m2 and 9m2, feature foosball tables, interactive internet stations and touchscreens with existing football and MTN brand initiatives, and the latest data and telephony technology and products. The MTN zones are located at OR Tambo International Airport and Durban International Arrivals Terminals, Cape Town International Airport Domestic Departure Terminal, and Bloemfontein, PE and George Arrival Terminals. iHOP organized a high energy, non-stop 7 City, 34 Stop roadshow featuring award-winning Hip Hop and R&B stars, HHP, Prokid and KB, compered by the multi-talented Wright Ngubeni to launch GetMo, Arvato’s (a divison of Bertelsmann AG (Germany)) converged online music, movie and games digital entertainment service. The shows, held at university and school grounds and clubs, coupled with impromptu appearances at the country’s leading clubs, attracted as many as 5,000 music enthusiasts at each of the 34 venues around the country who were happy to leave with a glimpse of mzansi’s hottest acts or music memorabilia or memory of a lifetime.
