Tomorrow is the big night!! The annual Nana’s House Christmas Tree fundraiser will be held at Esquina 22 (Avenida Mexico #27) in Bucerias from 5-8 pm!

Please join us for drinks, dinner and fun with the kids. There are no tickets to attend the event but we will be raising money to give these kids a great Christmas! We always appreciate the generous hearts in this community for their ongoing support of charitable organizations.

Nana’s House provides a loving environment to children who have escaped horrific circumstances and gives them a bright future.

Starting back in 2015, Estelle Nuebling wanted to help provide a Christmas for these kids. She came up with the idea of a Christmas Tree where each child would write their Christmas wishes on ornaments and the wonderful people in our community would take an ornament and make these kids Christmas wishes come true!

This year the kids made ornaments for the tree but as they are getting to (or are at) the teenager stage, we are raising funds so that we can get them gift cards to buy whatever they want for Christmas. For many of them, being able to go the store and buy what they want is a new experience and a step on the road to independence.

Please come join us and some of the wonderful kids who are coming down from Tepic tomorrow for a wonderful evening! We would like to thank Esquina 22, Alain, Arturo and their amazing staff for graciously hosting this event and for their ongoing support of charitable organizations in the community.

We had a great time in Tepic at Nana’s House yesterday. It was a long day but a fun and interesting one!

Thanks to Mary Jo Hansen, the director of Nana’s House for arranging the tour in Tepic of the current house as well as the new construction that is taking place.

Nana’s House is a safe and loving environment for children and offers hope for the future by providing a quality education as well as vocational skills taught at a local technical college. In this way the children will always have marketable skills such as cooking, sewing, welding or mechanics to use throughout their life. Yesterday we were able to see the small coffee shop that the older children in high school and university run and work in so that they may gain work experience and earn their own money to gain financial freedom. We also were able to sample the delicious baking and cooking skills of a few of the girls who were kind enough to make lunch for our group!

Nana’s House is currently building a new building to house the girls and will begin working on a new house for the boys. The government of Nayarit did provide the land but all of the funding to build and run this amazing organization is only possible because of the generous donations from all of you. The hope they provide to the children that they house and care for as well as the community outreach programs that they run are making a dramatic difference in people’s lives.

I have heard from a few people that they do not want to support Nana’s House because it is not in Bucerias. To that I would like to say that Nana’s House in Tepic accepts neglected children from all over the state and currently has 3 children from Bucerias. These kids are not “Monday to Friday” orphans who have family they can visit on the weekend. These kid’s “families” (and I use that term very loosely!) severely abused these kids mentally, physically and in some cases sexually and Nana’s House, their staff and volunteers are giving them a future they never knew that they could have. That to me is far more important than the area that they were abandoned in. The need to help is bigger than Bucerias and I hope that people realize that together we can make a difference locally in Bucerias and that by providing hope to children for a better future we can help change the world.

I would like to thanks all those that came with us yesterday to Tepic. It was a great day of fun and friendship and I hope that we can organize another trip up there in the future.

I have attached some pictures from yesterday as well as a link where you can donate to Nana’s House. An ongoing donation of $30 per month helps to feed one child at Nana’s House.

Thanks again to Bucerias for all,of the support you provide to the community!

Nana's House Orphanage is a safe place for childn the world thows away. Healing Hearts.

Trip to Nana’s House in Tepic, Tuesday March 3rd

I am organizing a trip to Nana’s House in Tepic next Tuesday March 3rd. This is a great opportunity to see the great work that they do for the kids everyday as well as see the progress of the new building and the plans that they have for the future.

I am renting a comfortable highway bus that holds up to 47 passengers. The idea is to leave from a central point in Bucerias around 7 am (early I know lol!) so we can get to Tepic before 10 am. We can tour the house and the construction, maybe do a bit of sightseeing in Tepic (I will ask Mary Jo Hansen from Nana’s House if she would recommend something that we should see) and then a late lunch/ early supper with the aim of leaving there around 6 so we would be back here by 9pm.

The cost of the bus is $11,000 pesos so with 35 people, the cost would be a little over $300 pesos per person for transport. You would be responsible for the costs of any food, snacks or attractions in Tepic.

Please let me know if you are interested in coming by replying to this post. I will have to pay the bus in advance to secure the date so payment in advance would be much appreciated lol!

Such a great organization!

Nana’s House opened its doors in 2008 to rescue children living on the street in Mexico and since then, we have been able to help more than 150 children.

We are so thankful for our founder, Mary Jo Hansen, for her heart and vision to open this house and for all the time and strength dedicated to each child over the past 11 years. Also, thank you to all of our faithful supporters, volunteers, and prayer warriors that have stood by our side and believe in the vision of Nana’s House. ❤️
