The huaraches for the Huichol girls and boys have been DELIVERED!!! 🤩 WE MADE IT!!! 💜💜💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Despite many setbacks due to Covid and to the violence in Zacatecas, on March 16th we managed to deliver the donations and 287 pairs of huaraches to the Huichol children of the Sierra Alta of Jalisco!!!
Infinite thanks to all of you that contributed!!!
The huaraches were made by artisans from Querétaro and brought by Ugo Cruz to Guadalajara.
This was the odyssey to get them there:
1° Dr "Germán" Roberto Guzmán took them from Ajijic to Guadalajara (on other occasions he personally drove for 14 hours to get there but this time it was not possible), where he handed them over to Oscar (the driver of the truck that goes up to the Sierra 3 times a week and is able to do so safely because they already know him);
2° Oscar took them to Colotlán, where he handed them over to teacher Juan (who works in another shelter, which is where Colegio Terranova from Ajijic will soon personally deliver the 250 pairs of huaraches they donated);
3°After a few more days, Melecio (the director of the Progreso shelter/school in Mesa del Tirador, which started this initiative) drove 8 hours to Colotlán to collect the donations (which included huaraches, piñatas with candies, clothes, medicine, moisturizing cream, shampoo, vaseline, scarves, warm fabric, and balls) and took them to their final destination in the shelter/school.

A pesar de tantos contratiempos x Covid y x la violencia el 16 de Marzo logramos entregar los donativos y 287 pares de Huaraches a los Niños Huicholes de la Sierra Alta de Jalisco!!!

Los huaraches los elaboraron artesanos de Querétaro y los trajo Ugo Cruz a Guadalajara.
Esta fue la odisea para hacerlos llegar:
1°El Dr "Germán" Roberto Guzmán los llevó de Ajijic a Guadalajara (en otras ocasiones los lleva personalmente manejando 14 horas para llegar pero está vez no fue posible), donde se los entregó a Oscar (el chófer del camión que sube a la sierra alta 3 veces x semana pues ya lo conocen y x ello puede circular sin problemas en la zona)
2° Oscar los llevó hasta Colotlán, donde los entregó al maestro Juan (quien trabaja en otro albergue, que es donde el Colegio Terranova de Ajijic entregará próximamente de forma personal los 250 pares de Huaraches que ellos donaron); 3°Después de unos días más, Melecio (el director de la escuela albergue Progreso de Mesa del Tirador, por la cual iniciamos esta colecta) manejó 8 horas hasta Colotlán para recoger los donativos (que incluyen huaraches, piñatas con dulces, ropa, medicinas, crema, shampoo, vaselina, bufandas, tela polar, y pelotas) y llevarlos a su destino final en dicho albergue escuela 🥳🥳🥳
