Have you tried our betel tea ? Here are some information and benefits of betel leaves.

Recent studies have shown that betel leaves contain tannins, sugar and diastases and an essential oil. The essential oil is a light yellow liquid of aromatic odour and sharp burning in taste. It contains a phenol called chavicol which has powerful antiseptic properties.

Benefits:

WEAKNESS OF NERVES

Betel leaves are beneficial in the treatment of nervous pains, nervous exhaustion and debility. The juice of a few betel leaves, with a teaspoon of honey, will serve as a good tonic. A teaspoon of this can be taken twice a day.

HEADACHES

The betel leaf has analgesic and cooling properties. It can be applied with beneficial results over the painful area to relieve intense headache.

RESPIRATORY DISORDERS

Betel leaves are useful in pulmonary affection in childhood and old age. The leaves, soaked in mustard oil and warmed, may be applied to the chest to relieve cough and difficulty in breathing.

CONSTIPATION

In the case of Constipation in children, a suppository made of the stalk of betel leaf dipped in castor oil can be introduced in the re**um. This instantly relieves Constipation.

SORE THROAT

Local application of the leaves is effective in treating sore throat. The crushed fruit or berry should be mixed with honey and taken to relieve irritating cough.

INFLAMMATION

Applied locally, betel leaves are beneficial in the treatment of inflammation such as arthritis and orchitis, that is inflammation of the te**es.

MANGO MASSALA

The mango massala is the latest development of the SARJUA brand. In this product, we have blended mango with a mild massala.

The mango increases the sourness of this curry powder thus substituting tomatoes that are usually added during cooking.

Tomatoes contain certain residues of insecticides that cannot be removed despite washing. Insecticides (like tamaron) are systemic and pe*****te inside the tomatoes. Unfortunately the authorised maximum residue level (MRL) is not known before the tomatoes are offered for sale. Furthermore tomatoes are often very expensive and at times not readily available on the market. Green mangoes are grown without the use of any fertilisers or any other added chemicals, rendering them relatively "organic". This product will thus be appealing to health-conscious people.

The MANGO MASSALA is suitable for use in vegetable, fish and meat curries. The mango neutralises the unpleasant odour in the fish or meat. Surprisingly, when cooking 'brede songes' and 'arouilles', the mango eliminates the itchy "grater" taste.

Also, as it is moderately spiced, it is suitable for adults and children worldwide.

Mr Danesswar Sarjua, the director of Conserverie sarjua International LTEE, who had an innovative idea to manufacture those products without any artificial preservatives, colorants or flavorings whatsoever and in contrast to other pickles on the market, his products are not excessively salty and do not contain any sugars. He did not stop there, he kept on innovating by producing large varieties of new pickles with new different vegetables and fruits. He was the first person in Mauritius who had a brilliant idea of using breadfruit to produce flour and then afterwards he used cassava to produce a "gluten free" flour. His innovating philosophy never stops.
