🌊𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐎𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲🪸 is an opportunity for us to reaffirm our commitment to protecting and valuing the wonders of our oceans - a commitment that guides our actions throughout the year through conservation initiatives, awareness programmes, and community engagement.
Yesterday, our 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 at Bel Ombre welcomed more than 200 curious visitors eager to learn about our marine and coastal ecosystems. Through interactive learning stations and educational activities, participants explored topics such as coral reefs, mangroves, marine protected areas and the vital link between freshwater and ocean health. Managed by the NGO Reef Conservation, the centre continues to play a key role in raising awareness among schoolchildren, hotel guests, and the wider community.
Today at 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬, team members and visitors took part in an Ocean Fresque workshop - an interactive experience designed to deepen the understanding of ocean systems and marine biodiversity, highlight the impact of human activities on marine environments, and explore practical ways to help mitigate our impact.
Meanwhile, on the west coast, our colleagues at 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧 participated in a zero-waste workshop, discovering simple ways to reduce food waste by repurposing coffee grounds into natural fertilisers and transforming vegetable scraps into broths. At the same time, guests explored the rich mangrove ecosystems of Tamarin Bay during a kayaking activity, gaining a deeper understanding on the importance of these coastal habitats.
Through our 𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 programme, we continue to create opportunities for learning, engagement, and collective action. Every conversation, every discovery, and every small action contributes to protecting our oceans for generations to come. World Ocean Day is a reminder that protecting our oceans is a responsibility we all share - and one we can all contribute to.
