Our restaurant is nestled between the Westin and Hilton Portomaso hotels, amid the charming, vibrant atmosphere of a former traditional Maltese fishing village, St. Opening its doors in 1991, it is one of the few restaurants in St. Julians and Paceville serving Maltese traditional food. A range of exceptional dishes awaits you, from freshly caught produce including fish to lobsters and oysters, as

well as traditional rabbit, and succulent steaks, which ensure that La Maltija is one of the most sought out fish and meat restaurants in Malta. The fish is either live or freshly imported and stored on ice, still somewhat a rarity in Southern Europe. As one would expect from a first-class restaurant, the restaurant's wine cellar is extensive, housing some of the best local wines from Malta, along with fine French, Italian and South African wines. La Maltija is famous for visits by many of the world's influential people such as artists, politicians, Nobel Prize winners, as well as Hollywood's most acclaimed celebrities, who can be spotted enjoying a meal with their crew on breaks from filming during their time in Malta. Mr Charles Spiteri, Chef Patroni is renown for being the personal chef of the former President of Malta, as well as Mrs Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain. He has received multiple honours during his distinguished career which saw him hold numerous culinary positons of influence across the globe. Locally, he was voted the best chef in Malta in the year 1997. The restaurant itself was voted the Best Restaurant for Maltese Food in 2004 by 'The Definitive Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo' amongst other honourable mentions.
