TYPHOON has begun rapid intensification over the next several days and is forecast to become a Category 5-equivalent SUPER TYPHOON / as it approaches the Northern Mariana Islands. Current forecast guidance indicates peak sustained winds of around 270 km/h (165 mph), with the closest approach expected near and around July 5–6, 2026.
Expected Impacts:
🌀 * Maximum sustained winds: 270 km/h (165 mph)
Catastrophic wind damage is possible.
Major structural damage to homes and businesses.
Numerous roofs may be torn away, with some buildings suffering complete failure.
* Extensive damage to power lines, communications, airports, ports, and other critical infrastructure.
* Trees and utility poles could be snapped, leading to prolonged power and water outages.
* 🌧️ Torrential Rainfall
Rainfall totals of 250 to 500 mm (10–20 inches) are possible, with isolated higher amounts.
* Dangerous flash flooding is likely.
* Landslides and mudslides are possible in steep terrain.
* Significant flooding of roads and low-lying communities may occur.
* 🌊 Life-Threatening Storm Surge
Depending on Bavi's exact track and where the eyewall comes ashore, a storm surge of 3 to 5 meters (10–16 feet) is possible in vulnerable coastal areas.
* Devastating coastal flooding and destructive wave action could inundate low-lying communities.
* Severe beach erosion and damage to ports, marinas, and coastal infrastructure are possible.
* 🌊 Extremely Dangerous Seas
Waves of 10 to 15 meters (33–50 feet) are possible near the eyewall.
Seas will be life-threatening for anyone on or near the water.
All marine interests should remain in port.
