Canvasback Wellness is a health center partnering with RMI Ministry of Health and Human Services and local and global allies to fight diabetes and NCDs through nutrition and exercise. Canvasback Wellness Center was founded in 2006 by Canvasback Mission, after then-president Amata Kabua asked that a Wellness Center be started in his country. We currently serve breakfast and lunch in our cafeteria-s
tyle restaurant Monday through Friday, where we provide healthy and delicious meals. We have a gym free to the public, open 6 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday, and 6-2 Friday, with exercise equipment and both free and paid classes available. We have several gardens which we are happy to show you, and we can even help you build your own garden. Four times a year we have interventions which are free to the participants, who get 3 meals a day for 2 weeks, exercise classes, cooking classes, and lots of helpful information about how to beat diabetes and other chronic diseases; you can sign up at the Wellness Center. We also are reaching out to communities by doing programs Thursday nights in the community. We have done four consecutive weeks in Uliga, and five in Rita. We hope to do every community on the atoll.
