Once upon a time… there was a coffee shop, a book, and someone who came every morning. ☕️📚
Every morning at 7:30 the door opens the same way, before the machines have warmed up and before Enrique has said good morning to anyone. AUPA had just opened in Bonnevoie. Every morning he’s already there with a book in his hand and a seat that has quietly become his without either of us ever agreeing to it out loud. The cortado arrives without him asking, the way certain understandings settle in over time without needing words.
We remember the first morning he walked in, in the first week of our soft opening early September 2025, when the espresso machine was still finding its rhythm. He moved through the door like he already knew the place, like it was the room that had been waiting for him. There was no routine here yet, so in a way he brought one with him and left it behind for us to keep.
Since then the pages have turned and the seasons have changed on the other side of the glass, but the hour, the book, and that particular moment of calm have never shifted. His reads are getting more intriguing and we got curious of what’s coming to the table next.
This was never really a post about coffee. It’s about a room that started paying attention, and a regular who slowly became something closer to a friend, and a quiet character in a story he’s now part of.
If you’re reading here too, in your own seat, during your own hour, tell us what’s in your hands. We’re collecting the small stories and reads for others to dig in and enjoy, the AUPA way.
