STEUART TEA - Official Page
In 1835, brothers James and George Steuart arrived in the island then known as Ceylon to establish George Steuart & Company, which stands proudly today as the oldest establishment in mercantile Sri Lanka. Six decades hence, George Steuart & Company was at the forefront of the transformation of Ceylon to the world’s foremost producer of high quality teas. Steeped as it was in rich British tradition, George Steuart Teas has taken great care to maintain the unique distinction of its off¬ering. The company has dedicated itself to preserving the fine art of tea making as practiced by the pioneering British Tea Planters, who traversed the Empire sharing their invaluable knowledge, exacting standards and aristocratic flair. World renowned as the SINGLE ORIGIN TEA, George Steuart Teas are sourced from the best estates in the salubrious tea gardens of the hill country, where the fragile “two leaves and bud” are hand picked and transformed into an aromatic and restorative experience that is singularly distinctive. Vivaciously full-bodied, intensely flavoured, and delicately golden, George Steuart Teas hark back to that era when the purest Ceylon tea delighted the senses of British noblemen.
