Eight Lebanese Designers Support Craftsmanship and Local Production, brought together by around a shared conviction: "The future of Lebanese design depends on its artisans".
At a time when traditional know-how is gradually disappearing, talent continues to leave the country, and local production networks remain under increasing pressure, this collaboration seeks to demonstrate that design can play a tangible role in supporting the local economy.
Through the creation of new collections developed in collaboration with artisans and producers based in Lebanon, the initiative aims to generate sales, encourage local manufacturing, and contribute to preserving artistic skills that are essential to the country’s cultural heritage.
The participating designers are: Georges Mohasseb, Etienne Bastormagi, Editions Levantine, Elie Riachi, Paola Sakr, Ahmed Amer, Emma Dya Jabr, and Maria Yared.
This initiative is aligned with the mission of Beit Kanz, the social enterprise of Beit el Baraka charity, which works to preserve Lebanon’s tangible and intangible heritage by supporting the country’s creative industries and local food production.
Today, Beit Kanz collaborates with more than 1,200 women producers, 220 artisans, and dozens of agricultural cooperatives across Lebanon. Through this design-focused initiative, the objective remains the same: to create value locally while supporting those who produce, manufacture, and pass on their knowledge and expertise.
This third edition of the collaboration between Beit Kanz and Lebanese designers, curated by Babylon The Agency, pursues a clear objective: to foster meaningful exchanges between designers, artisans, and local producers in order to sustainably support craftsmanship and strengthen local production in Lebanon.
