Walking hand in hand with an imp is sometimes a necessary compromise for progression. However, there are times when one has to cross bridges knowing it is a point of no return. A decision must be made at this point. It seems we have accepted the status quo of commercially successful tourism developments with weak backward linkages to local agricultural sector. But when 60 to 80 cents of every tourist dollar spent on food and beverage in the Caribbean leaks out of the local economies, is it not time to walk a different path and reject the thirty pieces of silver?
