Java Creative Café

Java Creative Café Java Creative Café is a café and community art space serving Phnom Penh since 2000 “Java” is a slang for coffee and that’s where our story begins.

In 2000 we opened our first location with a small team of seven serving fresh coffee and baked goods. Since then we’ve expanded our menu from breakfast to dinner, while staying true to our food philosophy. We make every dish in our kitchen from only fresh ingredients. We have pioneered a creative enterprise model in Cambodia, using resources of the café to support non-profit and independent art programs. Across the three spaces, it presents a curated series of exhibitions, Creative Generation award program and live performances in a black box theater.

✂️ Make Your Own Zine!
In this workshop, you’ll create your very own zine! But first — what is a zine?
A zine is a small, self-published booklet that can be about anything you want. Often handmade and DIY, zines are a fun way to share ideas, stories, artwork, opinions, or simply things you love.
You’ll create several pages, each exploring a different topic — whether it’s about yourself, your interests, your favorite things, or literally anything that comes to mind!
Along the way, you’ll learn about design elements, layout, creative storytelling, and visual expression. Most importantly, this workshop is about experimenting, expressing yourself, and having fun.
No rules, no perfect designs — just your ideas, your creativity, and a zine that is uniquely yours. ✨

The Bookmark Bookstore celebrated the release of the Sunrise on the Reaping movie tie-in edition with us at Java Creative Cafe. It was wonderful to see our space filled with fellow book lovers, excitement, and shared stories.
We’re so happy to see Java becoming a space that can be enjoyed in so many different ways — from book events and workshops to quiet afternoons, creative gatherings, and everything in between.

As part of the Friends-International community, we’re proud to support their Backpacks for Better Futures campaign, helping children get ready for a new school year with the tools — and support — they need to stay in school.

For $25, Friends-International can provide one child with a backpack and school supplies, together with ongoing support throughout the school year. This year, the goal is to reach 12,000 children across Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, and Myanmar.

At Java, we believe strong communities are built when we all contribute where we can. $25 can make a difference — and smaller donations add up too. ❤️

We’re proud to celebrate Sros La, co-owner of Java Creative Café, as a new member of the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA)! 🎉

For more than 20 years, Sros has helped build and grow Java from a small independent café into the multi-operational Cambodian business it is today. Joining CWEA is an exciting opportunity for her to connect, exchange ideas, and build relationships with other women entrepreneurs and leaders shaping Cambodia’s business community.

It’s already been a busy week of new connections!

💡 On 26 August, she attended the Business & Innovation Forum 2026, organized by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce — an opportunity to meet fellow business leaders and explore new ideas around entrepreneurship and innovation.

☕ And we were especially happy to welcome the Chairwoman of the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association, the Founder of Koh Slakhet, and fellow CWEA members to Java Creative Café. There’s something particularly meaningful about women entrepreneurs showing up for one another — sharing experiences, building connections, and supporting each other’s businesses.

We’re excited for this next chapter for Sros and for Java, and look forward to becoming more connected with Cambodia’s inspiring community of women entrepreneurs. ❤️
