Impossible to know the name of the common man to whom Zeus gave him the secret of limoncello, the most important gift of the Lord of Olympus after the fire. Surely, though, we know where it happened: in the Land of the Sirens. What would these shores and these rocks without lemons? And the boards without the limoncello?
Thus the origins are mysterious and as always many assumptions. Two or three of all, just to accept. Some recall the use of fishermen farmers to drink a bit 'of lemon in the morning to fight the cold liquor, others speak of industrious monks intent on preserving the beauty of life between a prayer and the other when the roads were unsafe and sea populated by Saracen raiders.
Enjoy it cold
