It came into existence on 1 July 2011 through the merger of two organizations: Helvetas (founded in 1955) and Intercooperation (founded in 1982). HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is involved in every area that has an impact on people’s livelihoods - water, food and the environment, as well as bridges and roads. In Kyrgyzstan, Helvetas started its activities in November 1994 with the Agroproject — restructured as the Kyrgyz-Swiss Agricultural Programme (KSAP), operating in close cooperation with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources. Today, HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is running 6 projects in Kyrgyzstan.
